Session 2: Fire safety of photovoltaic mounted roofs – Round Table

This block will address the roofs that support photovoltaic installations from different aspects and features (mechanical, durability, waterproofing, fire safety, etc.).

In the Round Table of the second session, speakers addressed key issues on the installation of photovoltaic panels on roofs, especially on pre-existing structures, exploring technical, safety and regulatory issues, as well as the need for better collaboration with insurance companies.

Participants underlined that, with proper studies and respect for regulations, it is possible to install PV panels on roofs in a safe way. In this regard, they called on insurers and regulators to consider the entire system (roof and panels) when assessing risks and to establish clear guidelines for existing rooftop installations.
